Large and Finely Worked Silkwork of W G Grace

A large and exquisitely sewn silk work of W.G. Grace

1848-1915, probably copied from a photograph taken at the turn of the 20th century, see below. A labour of love.

As mentioned the stitching is incredibly fine and worked on a very fine silk base, the background of which has been painted in watercolours.

A little age related deterioration has occurred in the background, although hardly visible. There is a patch above his back, but I suspect this was a fault incurred whilst being made as the patch is of the same fabric and has been painted over.

In its original oak frame and under glass.

Overall. 16” x 22.75”           41 x 58 cms
