A large and exquisitely sewn silk work of W.G. Grace
1848-1915, probably copied from a photograph taken at the turn of the 20th century, see below. A labour of love.
As mentioned the stitching is incredibly fine and worked on a very fine silk base, the background of which has been painted in watercolours.
A little age related deterioration has occurred in the background, although hardly visible. There is a patch above his back, but I suspect this was a fault incurred whilst being made as the patch
is of the same fabric and has been painted over.
In its original oak frame and under glass.
