She is wearing with a coral necklace and holding a dove, a symbol that across cultures represents purity, gentleness, devotion, beauty etc.
The coral necklace was also worn by many children in the belief that coral warded off sickness.
Very simple and pretty. 2nd half 19th century. Unsigned.
On its’ original stretcher and and period n its maple frame.. The frame has a few related faults to the sides.
