A charming watercolour showing the comings and goings at the Rands and Brumhead Brewery, Hull in the early part of the 19th century. Signed Hudson lower left and painted on a heavy
watercolour card.
Records exist for workers at the brewery in 1840 but I can find little afterwards. I assume the brewery was taken over as so many were in the 19th century by larger concerns
Watercolour, heightened with white.
The oak frame, glass and slip are original. The mount has been added as has a conservation backing board, to protect from the resins which have already leaked from the old wooden backing
onto the paper.
