Miniature Scrolled or Rolled Paper Work early 19th century

An occupation for genteel ladies with time on their hands.

Scrolled paper shapes and patterns could be bought from specialist suppliers, from which ladies would make them up into their own designs.

Most commonly seen in decorated tea caddies, this small and simple piece has kept its' colours of green and pink paper edged with gold, remarkably well.

Mounted on card, it is framed in its original pleasantly crackled ebonised frame with scroll hook, and glass
