Naive needlework of a white horse in a landscape, probably American
A very charming naive needlework of a white horse in a landscape. The piece is stitched to an advertising card of The American General Assurance Company, dated 1869, so I am presuming
it was stitched c1870 and is hence American.
Housed in a maple frame with age related wear in places, and backing board.
A few perished stitches on the horse blanket and beneath his ears, which in my opinion do not detract at all from this unusual piece.
