Mid 20th century portrait of a lady in green with red gloves

 

 

Portrait of a lady 1940's by Hyam Myer 1904-1978.

 

Myer was a painter, sculptor and teacher born in Prestwich, Manchester, the son of a journalist who was born in Rumania.

 

Myer studied at the Slade with Henry Tonks where he was influenced by the paintings of Matisse,. 

In 1924 he exhibited in a show with Horace Brodzky,

He lived in France during the 1930's. 

Later he taught in London at the St. Martins School of 

Art and the Royal College of Art

 

His work can been seen at:

Signed lower right, but undated.
