This motif was frequently used in the 19th century for cushion and stool covers. C1850.
Inspired no doubt by the depiction of 'Dash', Queen Victoria's beloved pooch, and depicted in Sir Edwin Landseer's painting, known as 'Hector, Nero and Dash with
the parrot Lory', which can be seen in the Queen's Collection.
Worked in wool on a canvas ground they are both in good condition with strong colours.
